Analytical: a one-mana instant-speed tutor for any named card, prized by combo decks (Draftsim). Historically a key tutor in Necro/Trix decks; restricted in Vintage and banned in Type 1.5 in September 2000 and banned in Extended in March 2001 alongside Necropotence (Trix era).[1, 2, 3, 4]
Demonic Consultation (Ice Age, 1995) became a staple of black combo and Necropotence decks, appearing in Randy Buehler's 1997 Pro Tour Chicago list. Wizards restricted it in Vintage and banned it in Type 1.5 in late 2000, then banned it in Extended in 2001 together with Necropotence. Premodern has kept it banned on every archived list; no reason was published.
